REPORT ON LAUNCH OF REVAMPED HEPC WEBSITE

The Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC) has revamped its website to make it more user friendly in line with the directions of the Department of Commerce. Inputs were taken from India Brand Equity Foundation for this purpose.

Shri Alok Kumar IAS, Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles launched the revamped website of HEPC at Udyog Bhawan, New Delhi on 03.06.2015 in the presence of Shri Gagan Rai, Chairman, HEPC, Shri R. Rajendiran, Vice Chairman, HEPC, Shri R.Anand, Executive Director, HEPC, Ms.Indirani Kaushal, Addl. Economic Advisor, Ministry of Textiles, Shri M. C. Gupta, Addl. Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Shri Shiv Kumar Gupta, Executive Director, Carpet EPC, other Council & Government Officials and member exporters of the Council.

Shri Gagan Rai, Chairman, welcomed everyone and stated that the revamped website elucidates the various USPs of handloom products facilitating the importing community to understand and appreciate the uniqueness and brand identity of Indian Handlooms. He has also stated that the unique feature of the revamped website will be that a unique user name and password will be generated for each member upon registration. Data entry of Member Exporters is currently in progress and will be completed in a couple of months. Soon, office automation software will be integrated with Membership section of the website and made available online. Thereafter, Members will be able to see their complete details and also update their personal data like e-mail, phone, etc..

Shri Alok Kumar, Development Commissioner (Handlooms) launched the revamped website and appreciated the initiative taken to revamp the website. He suggested that members of the Council may consider participating in fairs on their own after availing benefits for some initial period, to facilitate new members to avail the opportunity. During interactive discussions, the Development Commissioner (Handlooms) desired that HEPC may motivate young entrepreneurs having good handloom products to export by providing space on priority for their participation. He also mentioned about the initiative being taken to launch India Handloom brand. Some member exporters requested DC (HL) to consider waiving off the condition of completing 12 months membership for participation in any fair.
